The Department of Communication & Journalism is seeking a motivated and professional student to assist with our audio-visual office for the academic year with a chance of renewal. You’ll gain hands-on experience with video and audio-visual administrative tasks, technical troubleshooting, and office organization--all while contributing to an exciting and student-focused department.
Duties include, but are not limited to: managing the AV office, handling equipment checkouts and returns, assisting podcast studio and video production studio scheduling and equipment training, assisting visitors, students, faculty, and staff, filing and organizing documents/files, inventory of camera equipment, technical equipment, and office supplies, running daily errands to a variety of office locations on main campus, and general support of faculty/staff/students within the department and miscellaneousdutiesaround the department as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEnrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Preferred Qualifications- Basic audio-visual skills, including computer skills and technical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Printer/copier experience.
- Office work experience.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours fall/spring semesters.
- Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines.
- Experience supporting students, staff, faculty, and office environments in any capacity (tech support, event sign-ins, flyers, emails, etc.)
- Comfortable answering phones, greeting guests, and managing A/V office spaces.
- Familiarity with basic computer tasks such as typing, document formatting, using Adobe, Canva, and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding or willingness to learn camera equipment checkout processes and classroom technology troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail, eagerness to learn, ability to stay organized, and follow through with assigned tasks.
- Strive for a positive, professional mindset.
- Be able to work at least four days a week. More days/hours are encouraged within the work-study guidelines.
- Work-Study qualified individuals who can work in two to four-hour blocks of time.
