Role DescriptionThe Auto Damage Estimator is a full-time, on-site role located at Perez Collision Center in Albuquerque, NM. The estimator assesses vehicle damage, prepares accurate repair estimates, and explains recommended work and costs to customers in clear, accessible language. Daily responsibilities include inspecting vehicles, documenting damage, collaborating with technicians to confirm repair needs, and entering estimates into estimating software and internal systems.
The role also involves coordinating with insurance adjusters, reviewing supplemental damage, updating customers on repair status, and ensuring estimates align with shop standards and safety requirements. The Auto Damage Estimator contributes to an efficient repair process by balancing customer needs, safety considerations, and shop productivity.
- Demonstrated ability to inspect vehicles, identify collision damage, and prepare accurate, itemized repair estimates using industry-standard methods.
- Familiarity with common auto body repair processes, parts, and materials, and ability to collaborate effectively with technicians.
- Strong customer service skills, including clear communication, active listening, and the ability to explain complex repair details in an understandable way.
- Basic proficiency with computers and estimating or shop management software; comfort working with digital photos and documentation.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple estimates and follow-ups simultaneously.
- Ability to work on-site in a repair facility environment, including standing, walking, and inspecting vehicles for extended periods.
- Prior experience in auto damage estimating, collision repair, insurance claims, or a related automotive role is preferred.
- Training will be provided on site.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in collision estimation or automotive repair is a plus.
