Position Summary
The University of New Mexico Art Museum (UNMAM) is dedicated to advanced learning and creating connections, both in and outside of the University community. As a teaching museum, we are committed to offering students professional development and mentorship opportunities as well as access to the largest collection of artworks in New Mexico. The Student Registrar will assist the Collections Manager in performance of duties and act independently under direction.
The role includes information management, creation of legal documents related to collection objects, entry of catalogue data, object condition reports, researching the collection, and responding to inquiries about collection objects. A work‑study award is required. Preferred availability is Monday‑Friday 10 AM‑4 PM, with occasional evening and weekend shifts. Position is for Fall and Spring semesters with possibility of renewal.
- Attend art handling, security, skill, and procedural trainings led by UNMAM staff.
- Maintain discretion with regards to sensitive information and documentation.
- Maintain best and safe museum practices throughout all tasks.
- Assist with documentation of the collection.
- Complete appropriate forms and documentation according to project assignment.
- Use project management tool to access training and project documents and track task progress and completion.
- Attend project and planning meetings as needed.
- Research collection objects as needed.
- Data entry.
- All UNMAM student employees are cross‑trained in front desk operations and may be asked to assist with visitor services on occasion.
Monday‑Friday 10:00 AM‑4:00 PM, and occasional evening or weekend shifts.
