About the Opportunity
A rapidly growing renewable energy contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to support the successful development and execution of commercial solar projects throughout New Mexico. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, evaluating project risks, supporting bid submissions, and working closely with project management, engineering, procurement, and operations teams to help deliver high-quality solar projects. The company is actively expanding its footprint across the Southwest and offers strong long-term growth opportunities within the renewable energy sector.
Location: Albuquerque, NM (Hybrid/On-Site)
Responsibilities- Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial solar and electrical construction projects.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Analyze labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Prepare bid packages, proposals, and budget estimates.
- Work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure estimate accuracy and project alignment.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost‑saving measures.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
- Participate in project handoff meetings and support preconstruction planning.
- Track market pricing trends and assist with forecasting future project costs.
- 3+ years of estimating experience within commercial solar, electrical construction, EPC, or related construction environments.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Experience preparing conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates.
- Proficiency with estimating software and construction management platforms.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Experience collaborating with project management, procurement, and field operations teams.
- Commercial or utility‑scale solar experience.
- Electrical estimating experience.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, Excel, Accubid, Sage, or similar estimating tools.
- NABCEP certification or estimating‑related certifications are a plus.
