Estimator – Commercial Construction
An award-winning Albuquerque area commercial general contractor is seeking an estimator to be part of their dynamic team. The ideal candidate is innovative, highly motivated, and forward-thinking and wants to be part of the greater vision as the company continues to grow.
Seeking a skilled and detail-oriented construction estimator to join a growing team. The estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of construction projects, analyzing blueprints and specifications, and collaborating with architects, contractors, and project managers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and market pricing to help ensure project profitability.
Key responsibilities:
- Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine the scope of work and materials required.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and other project expenses.
- Analyze and compile data on construction costs to develop accurate project budgets.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to gather the necessary information for estimating.
- Assist in value engineering to optimize project costs while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
- Prepare bid packages and participate in negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor and update cost estimates as project requirements change or new information becomes available.
- Maintain a database of project costs, historical data, and pricing information for future reference.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and materials.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a construction estimator or in a similar role.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Pro Est, Bluebeam, Plan Swift) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
