The University of New Mexico (UNM) Campus Capital & Space Planning (CCSP) is seeking a full-time Sr. Planner to contribute to our energetic and committed group of specialists who enhance UNM's physical infrastructure. CCSP is currently managing several extensive, forward-looking strategic plans. The Sr. Planner will oversee the University's facility planning initiatives. This position delivers strategic direction across a wide spectrum of areas encompassing facility planning, architectural services, site development, asset management, and real estate functions related to the University's academic, administrative, athletic, and residential programs.

The Senior Planner manages the University's facility planning agenda through coordinated engagement with academic and administrative stakeholders, facility operations personnel, and specialized external consultants including architects and planning professionals. The role delivers strategic direction regarding facility allocation and capital development initiatives, working in partnership with the University Planner, Campus Environments & Services' Facilities department, and institutional executive leadership.

The Sr. Planner:

• Provides leadership in campus master planning studies, long-term facility management and land planning activities.
• Manages production of planning documents, reports, feasibility studies, concept plans, facility plans, special studies, and environmental design projects, including identifying project scope, budget, schedule, goals and objectives, critical physical and environmental constraints, program needs, space utilization, facility conditions, and establishes and monitors project deliverables.
• Collaborates with Office of the Provost, Administrative leadership, and Space Optimization and Capital Plan Managers to analyze the efficiency and utilization of existing space allocations and to strategize space needs in facility planning.
• Provides strategic leadership to wide variety of facility and asset management efforts.
• Provides guidance in benchmarking, technology, academic and research trends, and space projections to establish quantitative facility and capital projections.
• Assists with production of the annual capital budget, inclusive of facilities, landscape, and infrastructure and participates in the 5-year capital budget update.
• Provides comprehensive facility planning support to all Campus Capital & Space Planning capital projects; including the development and/or guidance of project scopes, programs, program adjustments, and revisions in development.
• Participates in various internal and external committees and working groups concerned with the campus environment and facilities.

This leadership role provides expertise to the University’s leadership at a time of rapidly changing business context and space usage. The ideal candidate will be able to provide superior, active guidance regarding the University’s near and long term programmatic and physical planning goals.

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
