The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Family & Community Medicine, is seeking a qualified Family Medicine physician to join its faculty. The role combines primary care in a newly built community clinic, supervision of residents, and education of students, residents, and fellows. Candidates should be passionate about service, education, scholarship, and leadership, and may also pursue research funding opportunities.
Position Summary
This position includes primary care in an outpatient clinic with a dedicated patient panel and may involve inpatient duties. Clinical responsibilities may span obstetrics/maternal‑child health, hospital medicine, newborn nursery, and intermediate care nursery. The clinician will also fulfill teaching duties for medical students, PA students, and family medicine residents and fellows.

Family‑Based Clinical Care
The new faculty member will provide primary care to a patient panel at a Family Medicine clinic, supervise residents, and may serve in maternal‑child health, inpatient services, newborn and intermediate nursery care.

The department excels in social determinants of health, community engagement, culturally effective care, addiction medicine, and point‑of‑care ultrasound. Faculty contribute to medical and PA student education and oversee residency rotations in rural and underserved settings.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Minimum Requirements- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
- Board eligible or certified in Family Medicine by the ABFM or AOA.
- Eligible for medical licensure in New Mexico.
- Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification and federal DEA registration.
- U.S. work eligibility.
- Three years of directly related clinical experience, possibly including primary‑care specialty training.
- Patient care experience in an office or community clinic.
- Experience educating students and residents.
- Demonstrated commitment to understanding New Mexico’s diverse cultures and supporting the university’s mission.
