Job Description & How to Apply Below
  • Are excited by field-centered science and want to take learning beyond the classroom into forests, rivers, and local ecosystems.
  • Have a background or strong interest in field biology or environmental science and enjoy designing hands-on, research-based learning experiences.
  • Value inquiry-driven teaching, where students learn by collecting data, asking meaningful questions, and engaging directly with the natural world.
  • Enjoy working with middle school students and understand the developmental importance of curiosity, exploration, and relationship-based learning.
  • Thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven school community grounded in learning from place.

Bosque School, a co-ed independent day school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, seeks a science teacher to begin in August 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator with a strong background in field biology to teach 7th grade science. The role is firmly grounded in field-based learning and includes coordinating and leading field research trips for all seventh graders as an integral part of the middle school learning experience.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and innovative teacher who loves to take students out into the forest, rivers, and other natural areas so students can collect data and do hands‑on science, all aimed at developing students' understanding and application of science knowledge and concepts.

Depending on the expertise of the selected candidate, this position may include additional responsibilities, such as teaching a section of Upper School science (e.g., Wildlife and Conservation Biology), including coordinating and leading student field research trips. The role may also support enhancement of student field science experiences at Bosque School, particularly in the Middle School and/or through the CEBRIN Field and Community Science program (CEBRIN FCS), including hosting visiting K–12 students for field research and environmental education activities on and adjacent to the Bosque School campus.

Bosque School offers a collaborative teaching environment with cross‑disciplinary, inquiry‑based learning opportunities. In keeping with Bosque School’s mission and values, we seek a teacher who approaches the study of science in ways that promote inquiry, curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking while building strong relationships within the community and manifesting a deep understanding and appreciation of adolescent learners. At Bosque School, we value a student‑centered approach to learning and engage students in solving real‑world problems.

We recognize that when student tasks are grounded in insightful questioning, risk‑taking, practicing core skills, and learning from mistakes, students build capacity, resilience, understanding, and mastery in the science classroom and beyond. Moreover, teaching students how to learn, practice, persevere, and work in a collaborative environment gives them the tools needed to succeed in today’s world and in the future.
