Position SummaryUNM‑Los Alamos anticipates hiring Temporary Part‑Time faculty to teach online and/or face‑to‑face Emergency Medical Services courses at the 1000 or 2000 level. This is a continuous recruitment beginning in the Summer 2026 semester. Positions are contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by student enrollment levels and current course offering. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses.

Proctor for Emergency Medical Services.
UNM‑Los Alamos is a two‑year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 90 miles northwest of Albuquerque. UNM‑Los Alamos emphasizes teaching excellence and offers academic transfer courses, as well as vocational and technical courses to the citizens of Los Alamos County and northern New Mexico.
UNM‑Los Alamos is seeking qualified temporary part time faculty members to teach lower division classes in various disciplines as specified above. UNM‑LA instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching including but not limited to meeting with the class during assigned times, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the Program Coordinator.
Strong preference is given to candidates who reside in New Mexico. Classes may be offered on‑line or in person, depending on circumstances.
Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the Department Coordinator overseeing this curriculum area.
WagesAdjunct Faculty at the UNM‑Los Alamos campus are currently compensated at the rate of $1,135.26 per credit hour.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications to proctor courses in Emergency Medical Services for which you are applying are determined by Higher Learning Commission’s accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met by one of these ways:
- HS Diploma or GED
- Current New Mexico State EMS License at or above the level proctoring
- Demonstrated experience related to the role/s sought to fill
- Ability to work in person on the UNM Los Alamos campus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years related (EMS or medical) experience
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
- Current National Registry Paramedic Certification
- Current UNM EMS Academy I/C credential and affiliation
- New Mexico residence
