WEEKLY HOURS - .5 COURSE CREDIT: No more than 10 hours per week. No more than 6 hours per day, plus complete a self-reflection project and present it during the last week of the internship. Currently a 1 - 2 semester limit.
The internship is unpaid, and interns will not receive any financial compensation.

Summary of PositionThe Semilla Project is committed to engaging with our young people in issues that directly impact them while also developing wellness, consciousness, and skills to be lifelong organizers and activists. This position will support programs, curated specifically by and for BIPOC youth leaders organizing in the South Valley and International District to develop learning spaces aimed at reorienting to the long‑arc approach of building power.
Designed to amplify the unique leadership abilities of youth leaders through land‑based learning, close mentorship, and culturally competent material that addresses the critical role of relational organizing and civic engagement.

- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Organized student with a positive attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn
- Attention to work rules and deadlines
We will teach you how to develop skills in strategic planning, organizing as a leader, fundraising, media, and canvassing. Apply learnings to your day-to-day organizing. Build strong strategic relationships to maximize connection and community‑building.
Working and Physical Conditions / Onboarding Requirements (vaccinations, etc.)Please speak to your SEL Teacher/Advisor/Mentor regarding working and physical conditions at your intern site. You will also be required to sign and upload a Parental Permission form. In addition, you will be required to electronically acknowledge Non‑Disclosure and Internship agreements. As part of your application, you will be expected to fill out your emergency contact information, school, and other personal information as required by Albuquerque Public Schools Work‑Based Learning programs and the New Mexico Public Education Department.
