Lecturer III
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full-time faculty position as Lecturer III. This lecturer will be a member of the Mechanical Engineering faculty at UNM’s main campus but will teach courses as part of our ME bachelor’s degree offered at the UNM‑Los Alamos campus branch.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the broad mechanical engineering area. The expected teaching load is three courses per semester, which can be reduced by assuming administrative duties such as coordinating the department’s educational accreditation activities or other research work.
Applicants must hold, at a minimum, an earned doctorate in mechanical engineering or a closely related field by the start date of the appointment. Desired qualifications include demonstrated expertise in teaching the undergraduate design sequence covering engineering graphics, design principles and prototyping, computer‑aided design and finite element analysis, manufacturing and machine shop techniques, and capstone design. Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and external funding for research and educational programs, a record of collaboration and recruitment with high schools and community colleges, and a commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
