Teaching Lab Technician
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is looking for a Teaching Lab Tech for our undergraduate teaching labs. This tech will work with a current team of other Techs in a dynamic group supporting numerous students per semester. The position requires successful teamwork and an excitement for an academic environment. Student support is essential.
- Preparing chemicals, lab equipment, and student drawers for teaching lab.
- Maintaining laboratory facilities, instrumentation, and stockroom for experiments.
- Planning laboratory exercises with faculty.
- Testing and conducting experiments, exercises, instrumentation, and demonstrations.
- Providing technical assistance to staff and teaching assistants concerning experimental preparations and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards of laboratory operations.
- Managing the working schedule: variable and negotiable with the supervisor; evenings required; overtime periodically.
**** The final salary for this position is dependent upon total Education and Experience****
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology or Bio-Chem preferred.
- Experience working in and providing technical support for an undergraduate teaching lab.
- Experience preparing chemical solutions and setting up experiments for undergraduate teaching labs.
- Experience managing undergraduate teaching lab facilities.
- Experience working in a team environment.
