The Clinical and Translational Science Center (SW CACTI) seeks an Assistant Professor‑level faculty member to serve as a K12 Mentored Career Development Scholar beginning in 2026. The successful candidate will commit 75% of effort to clinical and translational research and 25% to teaching, service, and other duties. The Scholar will pursue extramural funding, participate in multidisciplinary, team‑based research, and receive education to strengthen competencies in clinical and translational research design, conduct, and analysis.
The Scholar will be identified as an SW CACTI K12 Clinical and Translational Science Center Scholar. The award is made for up to five years with an anticipated start date late summer, 2026.
Qualifications- Minimum Qualifications
:
Health professional with an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., Pharm.
D., Ph.D., or equivalent terminal degree. - Must be able to obtain licensure in New Mexico (if required).
- Existing or prospective early‑career faculty with a terminal degree.
- Minimum of 2 years post‑terminal degree research experience (post‑doc, fellowship, etc.).
- No concurrent or pending application for another NIH mentored career development award (e.g., K07, K08, K22, K23) that duplicates K12 provisions.
- Proficiency to work in the United States.
- Preferred Qualifications
:
Licensed to practice in appropriate field; quality and relevance of training, experience, and education; clarity, significance, and innovation of the scientific plan; number and quality of publications; likelihood of receiving external funding within 3 years; commitment to clinical‑translational research; mentoring experience and commitment; demonstrated commitment to New Mexico culture and mission; experience teaching.
