Position Summary
New Mexico PBS (NMPBS) is seeking a motivated and dependable work‑study student to support our Education & Outreach department. This position offers hands‑on experience in public media, community engagement, and educational outreach. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys working with diverse audiences and is enthusiastic about public media's educational mission.
- Assist with planning and staffing outreach events, including setup, teardown, and interacting with the public
- Promote NMPBS programs and PBS Learning Media resources to students, families, and educators
- Help maintain contact lists and track community partnerships
- Create or distribute materials such as flyers, handouts, and social media posts
- Support administrative tasks such as data entry, scheduling, and inventory tracking
- Represent NMPBS professionally at community events, schools, and partner sites
- Occasionally work nights or weekends as event needs require
- Must be eligible for Federal Work‑Study
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds
- Reliable, organized, and detail‑oriented
- Interest in education, community service, or media is a plus
- Spanish‑speaking is a plus but not required
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for long periods at events
