Job description:
To collaborate and facilitate ieps within a cluster, as assigned by the program support specialist.
Essential functions:
Incumbant must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
* collaborates in the scheduling of ieps.
* facilitates ieps for annuals, performance re-evaluations, manifestation determination, and discipline (related and transition).
* assures that ieps are in compliance with idea as well as federal and state laws/regulations, and aps policies.
* establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students and parents concerning students' academic, social, and behavioral progress.
* assists school personnel in complying with required timelines for reevaluations and annual iep reviews.
* follows up on any referrals for related service evaluations.
* assists with all parts of the iep development that include the following: writing iep and/or typing iep on an electronic iep form.
* training school staff on iep requirements.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities and experience:
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, experience and education:
* master's degree
* level 3 teacher
* minimum five years teaching experience
* knowledge of special education laws and regulations
* excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing
* strong organizational skills
* technology experience
* strong problem-solving skills
* strong facilitation skills
* interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
* knowledge of district policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies and child abuse/neglect.
* ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate the work of others.
* ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents, community members and staff.
* knowledge of all laws, regulations and guidelines affecting teachers and students.
* knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
* proficient computer software skills.
* knowledge of special needs populations.
* knowledge of idea and state and federal requirements for iep development
Requirements:
Minimum required education, licenses, certifications, experience and skills:
* bachelor's degree in education.
* current new mexico teaching license in special education.
