Job Description
NAS is seeking passionate, flexible, and student-centered educators to join our small charter school community. We are hiring teachers in Math, Spanish Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies who value collaboration, relationship-building, and a commitment to student success in a small school environment.
Teachers at NAS embrace a team-first mindset and contribute positively to a culture where staff members work collaboratively to meet student needs. In addition to teaching core content, teachers serve as advisory teachers, teach electives, and support school-wide initiatives. Our accelerated schedule allows students to earn a full course credit in one semester, providing opportunities for focused instruction and timely credit recovery.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in assigned content area(s)
- Teach elective courses based on school needs and individual strengths
- Support students in developing critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Serve as a student advisory teacher and build positive relationships with students and families
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and support multilingual learners
- Use assessment data to monitor progress and provide targeted interventions
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support school goals and student success
- Participate in school activities, committees, events, and other school-wide responsibilities
- Maintain records, grades, communication, and compliance requirements
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to contribute beyond assigned responsibilities in a small school setting
Required Qualifications
- Valid New Mexico teaching license or ability to obtain licensure
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Appropriate endorsement or ability to teach secondary courses in Math, Spanish Language Arts, Science, or Social Studies
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic school environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Spanish language proficiency preferred (required for Spanish Language Arts positions)
- Experience in charter schools or alternative school settings
- Experience working with multilingual learners and diverse student populations
- Experience with project-based learning, intervention strategies, or interdisciplinary instruction
- Student-centered and relationship-focused
- Flexible, collaborative, and adaptable
- A strong team player who willingly contributes beyond assigned responsibilities
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats and supporting school-wide needs
- Excited to teach in an accelerated block schedule where students earn a full credit in one semester
- Committed to helping students achieve academic success and graduate prepared for college, career, and community
