Interim Pastor

Overview

Fellowship Christian Reformed Church in Albuquerque, NM is seeking an interim pastor for 6-9 months beginning this Summer or Fall. Our pastor of 33 years retired two and a half years ago and we have completed a time with a Specialized Transitional Minister last year. We have undergone a productive time of discernment and are actively pursuing new ministry opportunities. While we continue to seek God’s leading, we need someone to help us maintain our ministry, provide pastoral care, and support us in the process of transition.

Although small and aging, the congregation has been blessed with loving people and some resources. We recognize that our future may be quite different from our past, but as we discern and embark on that future, we are committed to making sure our congregation feel at home and supported by ministry.

• Provide pastoral care to the congregation, including visits to homes and medical facilities, and outreach by phone where appropriate.
• Help guide the church through the transition and discernment process, and support ministry planning and leadership development.
• Preach approximately three times per month; participate in worship and related activities as arranged.
• Support the pastoral team with general church operations and outreach as needed.
• Maintain flexibility in scheduling to accommodate a small, aging congregation and its needs.

• Experience in pastoral ministry and ability to provide compassionate pastoral care.
• Willingness to work with a diverse, aging congregation and to adapt to changes in ministry direction.
• Ability to preach and lead worship approximately three Sundays per month; flexibility in scheduling.

We have comfortable accommodations: a furnished three-bedroom home in a nice neighborhood, a few miles from the church (no parsonage). There is one worship service on Sunday mornings at 11:00 AM. There are additional gatherings during the week, generally self-sufficient, with the pastor’s participation not required. Occasional home or facility visits for pastoral care may be needed due to the senior and medically frail members.

Albuquerque is a metropolitan area with about 800,000 people, offering cultural diversity and access to regional amenities.
