Job DescriptionNew Mexico International School is looking for a full time Middle Program Coordinator (MPC)
Summary of position: The Middle School Program Coordinator (MPC) supports the implementation of NMIS’s middle school instructional program through instructional coaching, coordination of assessment systems, facilitation of collaborative instructional structures, and execution of programmatic requirements aligned to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). The MPC serves as the school’s MYP Coordinator. The MPC also serves as the school’s K–8 School Testing Coordinator, responsible for the day-to-day coordination of assessment administration, data collection, and testing logistics under the supervision of the Middle School Principal.
The MPC also supports student leadership programming and middle school transition activities. This role is non-supervisory and does not include staff evaluation, student discipline, or administrative authority. The Middle School Program Coordinator reports to the Middle School Principal.
Role Boundaries and Authority: The Middle School Program Coordinator is a licensed instructional staff member who provides programmatic coordination and instructional coaching support. The MPC does not supervise staff, conduct formal evaluations, implement student discipline, or serve as an acting administrator. Authority for instructional supervision, evaluation, discipline, and compliance decisions rests with school administration. The MPC exercises influence through coaching, collaboration, and coordination of instructional systems.
The Middle Program Coordinator is obligated to respond to student misconduct in accordance with the NMIS Student Discipline Matrix. The Middle Program Coordinator is expected to intervene directly at the level of authority assigned to their role and to elevate concerns when student behavior exceeds that authority. The Middle Program Coordinator may implement Level 0 and Level 1 disciplinary responses, including immediate redirection, instructional correction, restorative actions, and classroom-based consequences, as defined in the Student Discipline Matrix.
The Middle Program Coordinator does not determine or impose level 3 or above disciplinary actions.
FLSA Status: Exempt (teacher)
School Personnel Act Classification: Licensed

Immediate supervisor: Middle School Principal (MSP)
Compensation: Salaried, according to placement on NMIS Teacher Salary Schedule. See Appendix

Hours: Must be present on campus during the teacher workday (8:00am–3:45pm, with 30-minute lunch). Required on-campus dates include all teacher workdays plus additional days before and after the school year as assigned, consistent with principal expectations.

Certification/Educational Qualifications- Current trainings in accordance with NMIS Employee Handbook and Governing Council Policy
- Current background check in compliance with school policy
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in elementary instruction, bilingual education, and inquiry-based learning
- Valid New Mexico PED-issued K-8 Elementary License with Bilingual Education Endorsement
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Demonstrated expertise in middle grades instruction and adolescent development
- Experience with assessment coordination and instructional data systems preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP)
