Position Summary
The School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering anticipates hiring
Adjunct (Temporary, Part time) Faculty to teach and/or develop program coursesin Mechanical Engineering for the Fall 2026.
Anticipatedopenings, potentially include the following subjects:
Dynamics, Vibrations,Control Systems, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Finite Element Analysis,Engineering Materials Science, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Components, Engineering Design, and Aerospace Systems.
Mechanical Engineering is seeking qualified temporary part time faculty members to teachin the various disciplines as specified above. Instructors are responsible forall aspects of courses taught to include: meeting with class during assigned times, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the Department Chair.
Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduationrequirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected forthese positions will report to the Department Chair.
Applicants who are appointed to a UNM continuing faculty position are required to providean official certification of success completion of all degree requirementsprior to their initial employment with UNM.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: The minimum qualifications must be consistent with Higher Learning Commission standards and compliant with the faculty hiring guidelines.
- MS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas listed in the position summary
- Online teaching experience
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
