Position: Pastoral Care Pastor - Portales Campus (Part Time)

Pastoral Care Pastor – Portales Campus (Part Time)

Legacy Church is seeking a caring, spiritually mature, and people-focused Part-Time Pastoral Care Pastor to provide compassionate pastoral support to our congregation and community.

This role is centered on being present with people during significant moments in their lives—offering prayer, encouragement, counseling, and spiritual care during times of celebration, transition, difficulty, and loss.

The ideal candidate genuinely loves people, communicates well, demonstrates strong pastoral sensitivity, and is committed to serving others in alignment with the mission, vision, Statement of Faith, and Core Values of Legacy Church.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Visit congregants who are hospitalized or in need of pastoral care.
  • Provide personal prayer and pastoral support to individuals who call, email, or visit the church.
  • Provide pastoral counseling within the scope of the position, church policies, and applicable professional and legal requirements, including appropriate referral to licensed professionals when needed.
  • Officiate wedding ceremonies in accordance with applicable requirements and Legacy Church policies.
  • Officiate Celebration of Life (funeral) services and facilitate related pastoral activities.
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and text messages within 24 hours whenever reasonably possible.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality, pastoral discretion, and professionalism in all interactions.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Participate in after-hours emergency pastoral phone coverage and provide appropriate pastoral support when individuals need to speak with a pastor.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
General Responsibilities
  • Work with and support the Volunteer Team.
  • Maintain timely and effective communication with staff and ministry teams.
  • Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Legacy Church Handbook.
  • Consistently demonstrate and live out Legacy Church's Core Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A genuine heart for people and a clear calling to pastoral ministry.
  • Demonstrated spiritual maturity, compassion, wisdom, and integrity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Ability to minister effectively to people during both joyful and difficult circumstances.
  • Sound pastoral judgment and the ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
  • Dependable, responsive, and flexible when pastoral needs arise.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and Core Values of Legacy Church.
  • Agreement with and commitment to Legacy Church's Statement of Faith.
Physical & Other Requirements
  • Ability to travel locally for church-related responsibilities, including hospital, home, care-facility, funeral-home, and other pastoral visits.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout office, church, hospital, and other ministry environments.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and after-hours emergency coverage as required by the position.
  • Proficiency with email, text messaging, electronic calendars, Microsoft Office or comparable office applications, and other technology used by Legacy Church, with the ability and willingness to learn church-specific communication, scheduling, and ministry software.
  • Successful completion of a background check and any other pre-employment screening required by Legacy Church.
