Amigos de las Americas (AMIGOS) is a leader in international youth development, creating a world in which young people realize their full potential as leaders and global citizens. We provide extraordinary opportunities for youth to design and lead projects in collaboration with U.S. and Latin American peers and partner organizations across the Americas.

POSITION SUMMARY

Are you passionate about engaging with youth and sharing opportunities for them to grow as leaders and global citizens? Join our team as an Outreach Coordinator (OC) and play a vital role in the recruitment of the next generation of AMIGOS volunteers. Reporting to Local Chapter board members and/or a member of the AMIGOS HQ team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing local support for our school recruitment efforts and alumni engagement.

OCs typically begin in July, August, or September and conclude their work in December, January, or February, depending on recruitment needs and the local landscape.

We are currently accepting applications in the following regions. While we are actively recruiting for select openings, we are also building a pipeline of qualified candidates for anticipated opportunities in other locations. RESPONSIBILITIES Local Recruitment Support
  • Execute classroom presentations to share AMIGOS programs with new students and collect the contact information of any students interested in learning more about AMIGOS.
  • Nurture relationships with educators to facilitate continued promotion of AMIGOS in classes.
  • Connect with recent alumni volunteers and parents and support them to be advocates for our programs.
  • Other promotional activities such as attending service and/or college and career fairs and delivering fliers.
  • Regular check-ins with your manager to align priorities and availability.
  • Following presentations or events, complete lead data entry and additional follow-up communications as assigned by your manager.
Local Chapter Support (if hired for an OC role in a city/region with an AMIGOS Local Chapter)
  • Provide regular updates on recruitment progress and activities to the board.
  • Review applications and support in scheduling and executing volunteer interviews.
  • Attend monthly board meetings.
REQUIRED

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to build rapport quickly with diverse stakeholders.
  • Dependability and strong time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, trusting relationships with prospective student volunteers, alumni, and parents.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Applicants must have flexible availability during daytime hours to give classroom presentations and facilitate other daytime events.
DESIRED

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of AMIGOS and/or experience as a past AMIGOS volunteer.
  • Experience in customer service and/or sales.
  • Knowledge of and engagement with local high schools and youth-serving communities, including experience as an educator, parent, former student, or volunteer.
  • Familiarity with Latin America, in particular Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Panama, and or Paraguay
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!
