Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction
Albuquerque, NM ($115,000 - $145,000 base salary + bonus/performance-based incentives + relocation assistance + full healthcare + 401(k)) Are you a heavy civil estimator looking to join a growing southwest contractor that will genuinely invest in your career and see you progress into a leadership in the future? Are you looking for a client-facing role where you will have the support and autonomy to own both the numbers and the relationship?
This is a rare opportunity to join a growing heavy civil contractor expanding across the southwest at a moment when its Albuquerque office is being built out from the ground up. You will report directly to the company's president, with no vice president currently in place above you - meaning genuine executive exposure and a real path to grow into that seat as the office scales.
This is a client-facing, relationship-driven position, not a purely desk-bound one: you'll be expected to build relationships and a presence in the market alongside leading bid and pursuit efforts. The intention will be to build a team around you as you progress within the business.
Must have at least 3 years of heavy civil estimating experience. Strong knowledge of earthwork, underground utilities, grading, drainage, structural concrete, paving, or site development - well-rounded exposure across scopes is desired, expertise in all is not required. Must be tech savvy and easily trained on software.
Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid or comparable estimating software (Primavera P6, Bluebeam, AGTEK, Bid2
Win, Hard Dollar) is a plus, not required. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and be emotionally intelligent - this is a technical but also client-facing, relationship-driven position. Must be self-motivated and able to operate in an autonomous environment. Strong analytical, organizational, and deadline-management skills; able to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously.
Direct reporting line to executive leadership, with a genuine path to grow into a vice president seat as the office builds out. Opportunity to help build the Albuquerque estimating team from scratch and mentor future hires. Direct collaboration with operations and the wider regional teams, with room to grow influence across pursuit strategy and market relationships.
Compensation and BenefitsBase salary: $115,000 - $145,000. Bonus and performance-based incentives for estimators who help identify and secure profitable work. Relocation assistance. Full healthcare. 401(k). Hybrid schedule - more time in the office whilst ramping up, with flexibility over time to 2-3 days in office per week.
