What Your Job Will Be LikeThe Secure Embedded Systems department (5327) is seeking a motivated electrical or computer engineer to lead multi‑disciplinary teams in support of large programs critical to national security. The successful candidate will lead teams in the design, development, test, and deployment of novel embedded computing solutions, with a background in state‑of‑the‑art computing (FPGAs, SoC, etc.), embedded systems, and demonstrated team leadership.
You will work alongside world‑class authorities and emerging leaders and use your skills in the following ways:
- Lead small and medium sized teams in the design, test, and deploy of custom circuit boards
- Set priorities and guide technical approaches
- Create novel solutions with state‑of‑the‑art hardware to create embedded computing solutions
- Embedded software
- FPGA Firmware
- Verification & validation
- Real‑time data processing
- Object‑oriented software frameworks and architecture development
- Networked and distributed architectures
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range$117,500 - $235,700. Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We RequireA Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level and SCI security clearance.
Qualifications We DesireThe ideal Electrical Engineering candidate will in addition possess the following:
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate well in a multidisciplinary team of designers and test engineers.
- Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling.
- Experience in electrical and computer systems design and development for real‑time and embedded processing systems.
- Experience leading teams in the development of custom embedded computing solutions.
- Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) design, layout, and testing for applications involving state‑of‑the‑art FPGAs, high‑speed, and large memory.
- Experience with hardware debugging tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Experience with FPGA design, development, and debug.
- Familiarity with hardware requirements generation for verification, validation, and qualification.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse, multi‑disciplinary team setting.
- Experience with inertial sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers).
