About This RoleFiber Tel is seeking a Walkout Engineer for our Albuquerque, NM location.
This role conducts site surveys, plans and maps routes, documents and reports findings, and identifies potential issues. It requires accurate and detailed planning to support the construction process and involves permitting work in the Albuquerque area. Pay for this position is $21‑28/hr, DOE.
Position Responsibilities- Collaborate both as part of a team and independently
- Perform physical inspections of proposed construction routes
- Document existing conditions for underground utilities and aerial infrastructure
- Utilize GPS and GIS to identify the most economical and viable routes for telecom infrastructure
- Communicate with property owners, municipalities, and utility companies
- Produce accurate and detailed plans
- Coordinate with field supervisors and project administrators
- Review drawings to ensure compliance with project standards
- Assist in developing survey maps and layouts as needed
- Update engineers on job progress and status
- Support the Engineering department as required
- At least 3 years of experience in telecommunications or engineering
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and detail‑oriented work ethic
- Ability to manage stressful situations and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of telecommunications networks, equipment, and components
- Proficient with Excel, Microsoft Office, and Word
- Associate’s degree or equivalent college credits (preferred)
This position involves both office and field work, with occasional exposure to noise and other hazards. The role requires standard office equipment interaction and occasional travel to client or vehicle locations outside the office.
Physical RequirementsThe job requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting; handling, moving, and using hands, including reaching, lifting, and balancing. Employees must occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
