• Provide engineering design and analysis support to diverse R&D programs and small-volume production contracts.
• Lead the structural and thermal analysis of mechanical systems for space and airborne hardware.
• Work within a multi-disciplined project team as part of mechanical design and analysis activities.
• Support integration and formal acceptance‑test activities.
• Design and analyze packaging for high‑reliability electronics subsystems and opto‑mechanical mechanisms such as gimbal and steering mirror systems.

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Eight years of mechanical engineering experience, including structural and thermal analysis (analytical calculations, FEA such as stress analysis, modal analysis, thermal conduction analysis, bolt loads, etc.).
• Experience with CAD software, ideally Solid Works.
• Proficiency in tolerance analysis and GD&T practices.
• Experience in space hardware design, analysis, integration and test.
• Strong technical writing skills for engineering documentation (analysis reports, specifications, requirements documents, etc.).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

• Ten or more years of experience in mechanical engineering of space systems.
• Strong verbal communication skills for customer interaction at design reviews and supplier interaction.
• Ability to adapt quickly to various projects and work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing time and priorities.
• Independence or strong contribution as part of a development team.
• Hands‑on experience with hardware assembly, integration and test.
• Current US security clearance.

$111,500 – $158,025. Aero Vironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

ITAR Requirement:
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). Applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person approved for an export license. Some positions require current U.S. citizenship due to contract requirements.

Security Clearance:
Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. Current US security clearance is desired.
