CEIS is seeking an experienced Asbestos Technician to support environmental sampling, abatement oversight, and hazardous material operations at a DOE facility. This role is responsible for supporting asbestos inspection, sampling, reporting, and oversight in accordance with federal, state, DOE, and site-specific requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of asbestos abatement procedures, hazardous material controls, and industrial safety practices while operating effectively in highly regulated and high-consequence environments.

This position may support facility maintenance, demolition, decommissioning, remediation, and construction-related activities associated with DOE operations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform asbestos inspection, sampling, reporting, and oversight activities in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures
  • Support hazardous material remediation and environmental cleanup activities within DOE and regulated environments
  • Conduct visual inspections, bulk sampling, and air monitoring area preparation, and decontamination activities
  • Utilize PPE and respiratory protection equipment in accordance with safety and radiological requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to abatement activities, inspections, waste tracking, and compliance requirements
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, DOE, and site-specific safety and environmental procedures
  • Participate in daily project briefings, pre-job planning, and hazard analysis activities
  • Coordinate with industrial hygiene, radiological control, safety, and project personnel to support safe work execution
  • Support additional environmental remediation or facility support activities as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous asbestos inspection or hazardous material characterization experience required
  • Experience working in DOE, industrial, nuclear, environmental remediation, or regulated construction environments preferred
  • Current Asbestos Building Inspector certification preferred (state-specific licensing as applicable)
  • HAZWOPER certification preferred
  • Respirator qualified and medically cleared or ability to obtain qualification required
  • Ability to wear PPE and work in containment areas, confined spaces, and radiological environments
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and hazardous material handling requirements
  • Experience supporting demolition, decommissioning, remediation, or environmental cleanup activities preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and work safely in high-consequence environments
  • Ability to utilize computer programs including Word, Excel, Maximo, Outlook, and other customized databases
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and safety awareness skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Clearance required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE site access and required training qualifications
  • US Citizenship is REQUIRED
