Summary
Under general supervision, plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates moderate‑scope projects or detailed phases of larger projects.
- Manage engineering aspects of moderate‑scope projects or detailed phases of major projects.
- Lead cost, schedule, and performance studies of conventional projects.
- Support operations with standard and non‑standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Communicate engineering ideas, recommendations, and evaluations to diverse internal groups.
- Represent the company’s interests in complex engineering matters.
- Provide broad technical support to associates.
- Apply engineering expertise to improve or develop new standards.
- Provide technical direction and supervise contractors and personnel.
- Apply engineering principles, practices, and regulations; perform economic and decision‑analysis studies in areas such as generation, transmission, distribution, planning, finance, and environmental controls.
- Read, interpret, and apply national, state and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, ASME, NACE).
- Translate electrical theory and physics to utility application for reliability improvement.
- Make informed repair decisions following company protocols.
- Work around high‑voltage equipment (up to 345 kV).
- Forecast budgets.
- Demonstrate leadership, motivation, and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ABET accredited) and four or more years of engineering experience, or three or more years with a Fundamentals of Engineering certificate, or three or more years with a Master’s Degree.
- Fundamentals of Engineering certificate preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Read and interpret documents.
- Write routine reports, correspondence, speeches, and presentations.
- Speak effectively before customers, employees, and managers.
- Proficient with electrical engineering design programs.
- Knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.
- Apply common sense understanding to complex instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Handle complex problems with multiple variables.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and exposure to outside elements.
- Lift up to 50 pounds; crouch, bend, climb, and work at heights.
- Protective equipment: hard‑hat, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- Split time between office and field; majority in office.
- Exposure to high‑voltage facilities, computers, and construction equipment.
Salary: $61,035 – $80,872 – $100,709
