About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Facilities Technologist to lead the coordination and execution of electrical power outages across the Sandia NM site, ensuring safety, efficiency, and minimal impact to mission‑critical operations.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and plan all electrical power outages across the Sandia NM site to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including electrical and mechanical engineers, fire protection, security, and planning departments to align outage schedules and requirements.
- Develop, review, and maintain detailed outage procedures and switching memos to support safe and compliant power interruptions.
- Communicate proactively with building occupants, maintenance teams, and external service providers to minimize operational impact and maintain mission continuity.
- Monitor and track outage progress, promptly addressing any issues or changes to maintain schedule and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, site policies, and industry best practices during outage planning and execution.
- Facilitate post‑outage reviews and lessons learned sessions to continuously improve outage planning processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to outage planning, approvals, and execution.
- High school diploma plus three (3) or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience coordinating electrical outages and/or maintenance activities in a large, complex facility or industrial environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q‑level security clearance.
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards, switching procedures, and outage management processes.
- Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, safety personnel, security, and facility management.
- Strong organizational and communication skills demonstrated through managing schedules, writing technical procedures, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with outage documentation, such as writing switching memos, procedures, and post‑outage reports.
- Prior experience in a mission‑critical or high‑reliability environment is a plus.
- Experience working in a facilities management and maintenance organization.
- Familiar with NNSA, DOE, or other federal government requirements.
- Knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage.
- Working knowledge and understanding in facilities engineering and construction as well as industry standard methodologies.
- Proven ability to initiate effective internal customer relationships.
- Ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion as well as effectively prioritize and implement multiple high rigor tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
$63,800 – $123,400
Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Additional RequirementsDue to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
