Requirements
  • Experience & Knowledge – Basic understanding and minimal practical experience; guidance and supervision required.
  • Knowledge of field operations, methods, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental considerations associated with civil infrastructure work in outdoor settings.
  • Skills in the use of industry‑standard tools, equipment, and computer software to perform field tasks, document work, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to operate required equipment safely, travel locally, regionally, and interstate, with occasional overnight stays, and work in varying weather, terrain, and environmental conditions.
Responsibilities
  • General – Perform assigned tasks with supervision and follow established procedures; develop foundational technical and field skills; may operate a variety of vehicles, including large vehicles with or without attached trailers, and perform routine maintenance. May cross‑train to perform other field services (Telecommunications, Survey, SUE).
  • Safety & Compliance – Learn and comply with all basic safety procedures: SDS, EAP, PSP, and JSA. Observe QA/QC processes under supervision. Identify and evaluate potential hazards; properly use PPE. Develop understanding of TCP and familiarize with federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
  • Technical – Locate, designate, and mark underground utilities within prescribed quality/accuracy limits. Perform Level A (QL‑A) SUE locating with nondestructive techniques. Perform Level B (QL‑B) SUE designating with electromagnetic equipment and GPR scanning as required. Document site conditions and SUE information via photographs and video. May perform Level C and D SUE as needed. Record accurate documentation/sketches using CF’s online GIS‑based mapping software.

    Operate large profile vehicles for utility locating and maintain them. Travel may account for up to 30% of time. Report punctually; dependability required. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
