The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is looking for a full-time Engineer to work in our Albuquerque, NM office. This is not a remote position.
Position SummaryIn support of the Response, Assessment, and Evaluation Services (RAES) program, the selected candidate will support design documents related to repositories and erosion control features, participate in the review of engineering designs and construction documents related to repositories and erosion control features, conduct field work associated with construction oversight of CERCLA removal and remedial actions, and write technical reports including engineering designs, data transmittals, engineering evaluation/cost analysis, remedial investigation/feasibility study, construction quality assurance plans, and construction completion reports.
Responsibilities- Support design and review of engineering documents related to repositories and erosion control features.
- Participate in review of engineering designs and construction documents.
- Conduct field work associated with construction oversight of CERCLA removal and remedial actions.
- Write technical reports including engineering designs, data transmittals, engineering evaluation/cost analysis, remedial investigation/feasibility study, construction quality assurance plans, and construction completion reports.
- Support the design and review of engineering documents.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Conduct field work.
- BS Engineering.
- 1–6 years of experience.
- Familiarity with environmental investigations supporting design/construction of disposal cells, waste piles, evaporative covers/caps, erosion and water controls, stormwater routing and controls, road design, slope stabilization, or restoration techniques.
- Experience or understanding of engineering design documents and specifications, reports and construction oversight including contractor report submittals.
Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D. - Familiarity with land surveying.
- Civil Engineering.
- Experience with environmental remediation or mining and mine reclamation, interaction with regulatory agencies, CERCLA sites.
- Experience with construction or construction oversight.
- Experience working with Principal Threat Waste (PTW).
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, both hot and cold.
- Walk on uneven terrain.
- Work in variable outdoor environments, packing heavy equipment, and excavations using hand tools.
- Carry field equipment (35 to 40 pounds).
- Don personal protective gear as needed.
- You must be able to drive on a regular basis.
- Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license and safe driving record is required.
- This position is primarily desk work, but occasionally (35%) you will need to travel and perform field work. The field work is in Arizona and New Mexico.
- A physical capacity for working outdoors, often in isolated remote areas.
- Work schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. - Overtime may be required during field work activities.
- Periodic travel with overnight accommodations.
- Work location:
In our Albuquerque, NM Office full-time or hybrid. - Travel requirements: 35%.
