Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Systems Electrical Engineer to join our fast‑paced team that develops ND future systems and advanced exploratory technologies. The role offers an opportunity to apply expertise in electrical systems design and integration toward next‑generation system concepts that address emerging national security needs.
Responsibilities- Design and develop new system electrical architecture concepts for Phase 1 studies, systems concept studies, and advanced technology maturation efforts.
- Partner with R&D groups across Sandia to identify promising emergent technologies and integrate them into future system concepts.
- Lead a dynamic team of engineers to test and deliver hardware concepts for ground and flight tests.
- Partner with vehicle designers to integrate system electrical architectures into flight vehicles.
- Provide written and verbal updates and briefings to DOE and DOD stakeholders.
- Work onsite as required.
Salary Range: $117,500 - $235,700 (estimated; final salary based on experience and qualifications).
Qualifications We Require- BA/BS in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and engineering or scientific experience.
- Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent, and ability to obtain and maintain Sigma 15 clearance.
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field with an independent research project.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including briefing development.
- Experience in ND systems electrical engineering, working with NSE laboratories and plants, and the DOD acquisition process.
- Experience with electrical component design and testing, agile or rapid development programs, leading technical teams, briefing DOE/DOD stakeholders, SPP programs.
- Experience with mentorship and ability to obtain and maintain SCI clearance.

The position requires a DOE Q security clearance or equivalent active clearance with another U.S. government agency. Clearance holders may be subject to background investigations and drug screening. U.S. citizenship is required. Multiple citizen ships may affect clearance eligibility.
