Position: Transmission Line Engineer I-IV

Engineer I

Salary DOE

Summary:

Under direct supervision, performs assignments designed to develop engineering work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard techniques, practices and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides entry-level engineering support for small and somewhat repetitive projects.
  • Conducts small or repetitive studies or participates in larger studies evaluating performance, cost, and scheduling.
  • Provides basic engineering support to operational areas.
  • Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations.
  • Represents the Company in fundamental technical matters.
  • Provides entry-level technical support and interacts with associates.
  • Uses Company and industry standards to ensure safety and consistency of engineering results.
  • Provides occasional technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and lower-level personnel.
Competencies
  • Knowledge and ability to apply basic and well‑established principles, practices and regulations.
  • Read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, etc.).
  • Good leadership, self‑motivation and interpersonal skills.
  • Translate electrical theory and physics to utility application for reliability.
  • Confidence working in and around high voltage (up to 345kV) facilities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution plus 1–3 years related experience.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations:
    Current, legally valid driver’s license.
  • Communication skills:
    Ability to read, interpret, write routine reports, speeches, presentations, and speak effectively before various audiences.
  • Computer skills:
    In‑depth knowledge of personal computers, including proficiency with electrical engineering design programs (e.g., Autocad).
  • Work Environment:
    Primarily office with periodic field exposure; protective equipment required.
Engineer II

Summary:

Under general supervision, independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques commonly employed in a specific area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides engineering expertise for intermediate, conventionally‑sized projects.
  • Conducts or participates in studies evaluating performance, cost and scheduling of alternatives.
  • Applies routine engineering techniques to support operational areas.
  • Communicates engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations effectively.
  • Represents the Company in intermediate engineering matters.
  • Provides technical support consistent with standards to associates.
  • Participates in formulation of Company and industry standards.
  • Provides technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and personnel as required.
Competencies
  • Apply standard engineering principles, practices, regulations and economic/decision analysis to area problems.
  • Read, interpret and apply national, state and local codes and standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, ACI, AISC, etc.).
  • Good leadership, self‑motivation and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable working in and around high voltage (up to 345kV) facilities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution plus 2 or more years of experience, or 1 year with Fundamentals of Engineering certificate, or 1 year plus a Master’s Degree.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations:
    Fundamentals of Engineering certificate preferred; current, legally valid driver’s license.
  • Communication skills:
    Ability to read, interpret documents; write routine reports and presentations; speak effectively before various groups.
  • Computer skills:
    Proficiency with electrical engineering design programs, Autocad, Word, Access, Excel, Windows.
  • Physical demands:
    Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lb, protective equipment required.
  • Work Environment:
    Office and field; exposure to high voltage electricity, computers, office and construction equipment.
