Lead Water / Wastewater Engineer – Phoenix, AZ
WSP Water is seeking an experienced Lead Water / Wastewater Engineer to join our full‑service Design Center team in Phoenix, AZ. This role supports municipal and industrial projects throughout Arizona and beyond, and offers a challenging environment for professionals eager to deliver high‑quality solutions.
Your Impact- Provide engineering services for planning, studies, analysis, and design of water treatment and distribution systems, and wastewater collection and treatment systems.
- Develop engineering studies, design reports, construction documents, and oversee construction related to water/wastewater infrastructure.
- Develop scope, costs, budgets and schedules for studies, design and construction services for projects (pipelines, pump stations, treatment plant works).
- Create detailed designs of water and wastewater treatment, conveyance, and collection systems.
- Setup and perform hydraulic modelling for water and sewer systems.
- Collaborate with CAD designers to prepare plans/drawings using AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, etc.
- Check design computations and quantity estimates.
- Assist in client contact and communications pertaining to specific projects.
- Occasional field work and travel to project sites; approximate 5% overnight travel.
- Work with and mentor junior staff.
We are looking for a senior engineer who can drive project delivery and add project‑management responsibilities.
Required Qualifications- BS degree in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or related field; MS preferred.
- PE required; AZ PE preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience on water/wastewater projects, including client interactions.
- Proficiency in detailed designs of treatment, conveyance, and collection systems.
- Successful engineering project delivery concerning scope, schedule, quality and budget.
- Experience in multi‑disciplined projects including responsibility for client interactions.
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to manage multiple assignments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate meetings, conduct client presentations and prepare reports.
- Self‑motivated, team‑oriented, hardworking, and committed to delivering quality work.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings & project field sites (~5% overnight).
- Must pass background check and maintain satisfactory driving record per company policy.
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $111,200 - $198,220. Compensation may vary based on location and candidate qualifications.
