Your Opportunity

The Bridge Engineer works as an integrated team member on a variety of bridge and structural projects. The successful candidate will perform simple and complex design and structural analysis assignments, working both independently and under the guidance of a Senior Bridge Engineer. Duties include assembling detailed design packages, preparing plan sets, and writing construction specification packages for structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and foundations used for pedestrian, vehicular, and railroad projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply structural engineering principles to develop solutions for assessing, evaluating, load rating, designing, rehabilitating, and strengthening bridges and other transportation structures.
  • Manage bridge and structural tasks for multidisciplinary projects, develop rehabilitation or replacement strategies, and complete structural analysis and design for a variety of transportation structures.
  • Assist the team in preparing construction contract documents, including plans, specifications, estimates, and reports.
  • Conduct interpretations and quality reviews of drawings, codes, and other materials.
  • Perform calculations and structural analysis/modeling using company standard software and/or proprietary software.
  • Assist with engineering duties on projects of varying levels of complexity.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Understanding of most relevant structural design, load rating, and analysis concepts and methods.
  • Proven experience with structural design and load rating software such as AASHTOWare, BRASS, CSiBridge, Open Bridge(LEAP), SAP
    2000, LPile, MDX, and others.
  • Solid understanding and practical experience applying AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation.
  • Ability to use Micro Station and/or AutoCAD preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Mathcad.
  • Ability to assess and validate software calculation results.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting, engaging in critical thinking and communicating concepts effectively.
  • Previous design‑build or other alternative delivery project experience is a plus.
  • Detail oriented and organized, demonstrating initiative and commitment to a quality professional product.
  • Self‑motivated person with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • PE license required or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
  • Minimum of 4 years of bridge and/or structural design experience.
  • Experience with CDOT, ADOT, NDOT, NMDOT, UDOT, WSDOT, and/or Caltrans preferred.
  • Proven design and project delivery experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to deliver a wide variety of project scopes on time and within budget.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Position Settings

Position is primarily office based with short‑term travel occasionally required for field investigations or site visits.
