We are looking for highly qualified candidates for a potential upcoming contract positioned onsite at the Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) SSHINE contract.

Engineer III Duties Include The Following, Performed At A Journeyman Level:
  • Support development of government flight experiment and space technology requirements, mission scope, design tradeoffs, CONOPS, conceptual designs, and mission analyses (including refining objectives into actionable requirements).
  • Perform analyses and evaluations through experimental testing, modeling/simulation, and engineering analysis.
  • Prepare documentation for systems engineering activities, including input into Government Reference Designs.
  • Support MBSE: model development, evaluation, and testing.
  • Support modeling and simulation tasks: develop, test, analyze model results vs. experimental findings.
  • Support specialized systems engineering (mechanical, thermal, electrical, structural) for spacecraft and balloon designs.
  • Support development of space technology and flight experiment requirements, design, and ICDs.
  • Support program management tasks: technical meetings, reviews, off-sites, and conferences.
  • Support procurement of long-lead and space-rated hardware/software.
  • Support technology transfer planning and decommissioning, including transition to external mission partners.
  • Support design and fabrication of ground-based proofs-of-concept, experiments, and demonstrations.
  • Travel to other Government agencies and contractor locations for design and test reviews, briefings, conferences, and meetings.
  • Provide direct analytical, technician, and systems engineering support to the RVE AI&T Infrastructure Lead(s).
  • Draft, prepare, revise, and review design documentation; participate in reviews; conduct reliability and performance assessments.
  • Support full life-cycle technology implementation: hardware/software design, development, testing, and re-engineering.
  • Support assembly and integration: facility management, spacecraft/balloon assembly, hardware/software procurement, maintenance/upgrade of integration capabilities, hazard identification, and laboratory safety instructions per the Programmatic ESH Evaluation Plan.
  • Research, development, and planning for future space system AI&T needs (new capabilities, planning tools, test concepts, data reduction/reporting tools).
  • Provide surge capability within unexpected or tightened program constraints.
  • Travel to other Government agencies and contractor locations for design and test reviews, briefings, conferences, and meetings.
  • Prepare and present monthly status reports on activity and document lessons learned.
  • Provide direct analytical, systems engineering, and technical support to the RVE Operations Cadre lead.
  • Support flight experiment mission and operations planning: procedures, CONOPS, LEOps, simulator/ground testing, ops center planning, training, IPT participation, scripting, antenna network onboarding, and crew logistics.
  • Directly support flight operations: on-orbit operations, ops testing, anomaly prediction/detection, data trending, fault detection, config management, anomaly resolution, and root cause analyses.
  • Support government technology transfer: train mission partners, technical reach-back, and documentation for transition of flight assets.
  • Travel to other Government agencies and contractor locations for design and test reviews, briefings, conferences, and meetings.
  • Travel to laboratories, field locations, test ranges, and other Government/industry locations to perform work.
  • Prepare and present monthly status reports on activity and document lessons learned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education/ Years of Relevant

    Experience:

    10+ years of experience with BS degree or 5+ years of experience with MS degree or 0+ years of experience with PhD degree
  • Clearance: TS with eligibility for SCI Poly
