About the Position

We are seeking a Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technologist to join our Design Engineer Group. In this role, you will transform customer concepts into detailed product definitions that support National Security initiatives. Each day will present exciting challenges to showcase your creativity and technical expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Create and modify detailed component and system definitions using CAD software, implementing design solutions for high‑impact projects.
  • Design intricate 3‑D models and detailed drawings of complex objects and systems.
  • Transform customer concepts into detailed specifications, ensuring clarity and precision.
  • Collaborate with clients and team members—including CAD Designers, Product Design Engineers, and R&D Mechanical Engineers—to integrate requirements into designs.
  • Utilize advanced 3‑D computer‑aided design software to develop mechanical designs, performing dimensional calculations and analyses.
  • Adjust designs based on evolving requirements, working closely with R&D engineers to translate concepts into practical solutions.
  • Analyze product performance data and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
  • Experience using CAD software for 3‑D solid modeling and mechanical drawing generation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance.

Desired qualifications:

  • Active security clearance.
  • Experience with PTC Creo and AutoCAD.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerance analysis, GD&T, and configuration management.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and Design for Manufacturing principles.
  • Understanding of NW engineering systems and the NNSA product realization process.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate within a diverse team.
Salary

$63,800 - $123,400 (salary range is estimated; actual salary depends on experience and qualifications).

Security Clearance

Applicants must obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Clearance is required for the duties of this position.
