Mechanical Engineer
Raven Defense is searching for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to serve as the technical focal point for our mechanical design, modeling, and assembly operations in Albuquerque, NM. The ideal candidate will seamlessly bridge the gap between complex customer requirements and mission-ready hardware, working in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment where your designs move rapidly from the screen to the field.
Key Responsibilities- Drive the full design lifecycle: from conceptual modeling and FEA simulation to COTS hardware selection, procurement and hands‑on assembly
- Act as the primary technical liaison for customers and cross‑functional stakeholders
- Oversee mechanical integration for airborne and maritime systems, ensuring compliance with DoD standards
- Champion Design for Manufacturing principles to ensure seamless transitions from CAD to the field
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design, analysis, drawings, and hands‑on integration
- Proficiency in the use of an integrated mechanical design tool suite (i.e. Solid Works, Autodesk, etc.)
- Proven ability to maintain technical excellence in a high‑tempo environment with shifting priorities and mission‑critical deadlines
- 5+ years’ experience in system design and analysis relative to Mechanical Engineering
- Working knowledge of at least one discipline of design-for-manufacturing, complex assembly modeling, FEA simulation, or defense industry mechanical/aerospace engineering standards
- Experience in airborne or maritime mechanical system integration and environments
- Thorough understanding of the whole design lifecycle and ability to work outside core function
- Proficiency in DoD guidelines and standards, design reviews, security procedures, testing protocols, and administrative standards
- Background in the DoD RDT&E community (Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation)
- Occasional travel, up to 25%, is required for this position. Travel will include customer and vendor visits in office/meeting environments as well as engineering support requirements which may include CONUS and OCONUS deployment aboard specialized RDT&E assets in support of customer requirements
- Candidate must be capable of meeting FAA medical flight clearance requirements
- US Citizenship is required for this position.
- Candidate must meet minimum eligibility requirements to obtain a US DoD Top Secret level security clearance.
