Compensation
:
Engineer I pays between $73,440 to $91,800;
Engineer II pays between $88,640 to $110,800;
Engineer III pays between $104,960 to $131,200. Placement at any level is based on the candidate's skills, experience, and education.

The Measurement Engineer is responsible for ensuring accurate measurement and accounting of natural gas stations throughout a utility’s distribution and transmission systems. This role involves designing, installing, maintaining, and calibrating metering equipment such as pressure regulation equipment, actuated valves, automation and SCADA equipment, odorization equipment, flow meters, pressure and temperature instruments, and gas chromatographs.
The engineer analyzes data to ensure billing accuracy, supports regulatory compliance, and optimizes system performance. They also troubleshoot measurement issues, lead system upgrades, and collaborate with operations, field technicians, and regulatory bodies to ensure reliable and precise gas measurement across the network.

- Provide the engineering expertise necessary to support intermediate projects that are generally conventional in nature.
- Interact with and provide technical support consistent with the application of well-established standards to company personnel.
- Conduct or participate in studies of intermediate size that evaluate performance, cost, and scheduling criteria of a limited number of alternatives; apply routine engineering techniques, practices, and procedures in support of operational areas.
- Provide technical direction and/or activity supervision to contractors and company personnel as required by specific assignments/projects.
- Provide accurate monthly project financial reports including budgeting, forecasting, work offers, invoice approvals, and actuals tracking.
- Communicate project proposals, status updates, recommendations, and evaluations to engineering and non-engineering individuals and groups.
- Represent the company’s interests in intermediate engineering matters.
- Participate in the formulation of Company and industry standards.
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a college/university accredited by ABET.
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Engineer I: 0 years of experience. Must hold or obtain within 3 months of hire a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college/university and submit unofficial transcripts. Preferred:
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification. - Engineer II: 2 years of engineering experience or 1 year with a Master’s degree in Engineering.
Required:
FE. - Engineer III: 5 years of engineering experience or 3 years with a Master’s degree in Engineering.
Required:
Professional Engineer (PE). - Preferences:
Experience sizing natural gas meters, odorizers and regulators; experience with SCADA; experience specifying gas chromatographs; construction or utility-related work experience in the natural gas industry.
Field and office environment. May be required to work at various job sites. Personal protective equipment is required while performing field functions. Must be comfortable working in and around high-pressure gas facilities, equipment, and pipelines. Travel is required and anticipated up to 25 percent across New Mexico. The requirement to carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
On-call as needed up to two weeks per year. Frequently required to stand and/or walk up to half the time and sit up to half the time. Manual dexterity needed with the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, listen, and smell. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work from elevated positions, such as ladders and platforms.
Will be exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and natural gas emergencies and situations. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
