Electrical Engineer - Space Technologies

Job Description

AV provides a full suite of space‑qualified hardware trusted to fly in extreme environments across GEO, MEO, LEO and cislunar orbits. Our customers rely on AV when a mission can’t fail. We are expanding to tackle large, first‑of‑its‑kind projects and we need electrical engineers at all levels to join a team building Great Systems for orbit, laser communications, space electronics and sensors.

• Design custom high‑speed digital electronics including ADCs, DACs, FPGAs, processors, and communications drivers.
• Design, analyze and optimize analog circuits, including low‑noise signal conditioning and power amplifiers.
• Provide expertise to product development and R&D efforts.
• Collaborate with peers, leads and managers to develop, review, and refine designs and analyses to meet program technical needs within defined time and budget constraints.
• Support electronics manufacturing and test as part of a broad‑discipline program team.

• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• 0–2 years of professional experience.
• Experience in design, analysis, integration and test of custom electronics.
• Proficiency with electrical design software and simulation tools such as Altium, SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, Hyper Lynx and MS Office.
• Ability to conduct circuit analysis and simulation to optimize performance and reliability.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Understanding of space qualification standards and requirements.
• Experience designing custom electronics for space products.
• Experience designing to a defined requirement.
• Experience with analysis necessary for high‑reliability space electronics hardware (electrical stress analysis, worst‑case circuit analysis, reliability analysis).
• Experience producing PCB layouts.
• Understanding of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Knowledge of relevant IPC standards needed for electrical design and fabrication.
• Experience developing and conducting testing of complex electronic sub‑assemblies and design of special test equipment.
• Experience deriving sub‑assembly requirements from higher‑level system requirements and defining test methodologies.
• Experience developing design and verification documentation (Interface Control Document, Design Description Document, Test Plan, Test Procedures, Test Reports, etc.).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to present designs to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to complete assigned work within a defined timeline and budget.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

• Work in an office and manufacturing environment (constant).
• Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (frequent).

$70,000 – $120,000 per year.
