Instrumentation And Controls Engineer

Insight Global is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support commissioning, controls integration, and device-level configuration for complex process skids. This person will work independently with minimal hand-holding while applying a strong understanding of how HMIs, PLCs, instrumentation, hardware, and mechanical controls work together to bring systems from design into commissioned operation. The role will configure and commission HMI/SCADA applications, including screen development, tag binding, alarms, and operator controls for manual, automatic, and sequence modes.

This engineer will also design and document remote I/O architecture, configure and verify field devices and drives, and generate PLC tag databases, setpoint tables, and device-instance data. A major part of the role includes leading sequence development for complex skids with high tag counts and coordination across multiple systems. The ideal candidate has strong Siemens PLC/control-system concepts, Ignition experience, and practical exposure to Ether Net/IP remote I/O and IO-Link device architectures.

This person will serve as a key I&C technical resource during reviews, direct technician activity on assigned skids, mentor less experienced engineers, and improve commissioning workflows where possible. Pay range $40-60/hr.
