Material Process Engineer
Required Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. At least four years of relevant materials, process-development, laboratory, pilot-scale, or manufacturing experience. Hands-on experience using test data to diagnose issues, recommend solutions, improve a product or process, and make work repeatable. Ability to work safely and effectively in laboratory or pilot-scale process environments.
Ability to review drawings, evaluate whether a design supports the intended product outcome, and provide practical feedback to engineering/design teams.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience Experience with powder processing, particle handling, mixing, coating, compaction, resin systems, thermal processing, carbonization, or advanced ceramics. Experience with graphite, carbon-based materials, ceramics, nuclear fuels, TRISO particles, radiological materials, or high-temperature materials. Practical experience with design of experiments, statistical analysis, material characterization, and process scale-up. Experience supporting hazard reviews, readiness reviews, or formal peer reviews.
Job Description Insight Global is seeking a hands-on Material Process Engineer to support rapid testing, process improvement, and R&D execution in the PDL. This person will work closely with a senior engineer on the floor, use data to identify process and product improvements, and help turn larger technical problems into repeatable, controlled process steps. The role will apply iterative design-of-experiments and build-test-learn methods to accelerate process and product development.
This engineer will plan and execute laboratory- and pilot-scale experiments, define process parameters and acceptance criteria, and characterize raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products. They will analyze results, communicate findings through clear graphics and technical reports, and develop material specifications, process requirements, test plans, SOPs, work instructions, and process-control documentation. The ideal candidate has materials experience, hands-on laboratory or manufacturing exposure, and practical knowledge of powders, particles, graphite, fuels, compaction, or related advanced-materials processes.
This person will also participate in hazard evaluations, safety and readiness reviews, and cross-functional collaboration with laboratory, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and safety stakeholders to move processes toward repeatable pilot-scale execution. This is on-site 5 days a week and pay ranges from 30-50/hr.
