Job Description & How to Apply Below
Albuquerque, United States | Posted on 09/03/2026
Stellios Technologies is building advanced high power microwave andenergy systems for defense, aerospace, and energy.
We are hiring an exceptional Power Systems Engineer to develop the high voltage modulators and power supplies that drive our klystrons, gyrotrons, and other high power systems.
You will own real power hardware, not just requirements or vendor management. The work spans pulsed and CW systems, energy storage, switching, magnetics, protection, controls, diagnostics, and the transition from prototype hardware to reliable deployed systems.
What You Will Own And/Or Support- High voltage pulse modulators for high power microwave sources
- High voltage DC power supplies for CW and long pulse RF systems
- Pulse forming networks, Marx type architectures, pulse transformers, resonant charging, capacitor banks, and related pulsed power architectures
- Solid state switching using IGBTs, SiC devices, thyristors, or other appropriate technologies
- High voltage magnetics, insulation systems, creepage and clearance, parasitic control, and field management
- Fast arc detection, crowbar and protection systems, fault energy limitation, interlocks, and personnel safety
- Pulse fidelity, rise and fall time, droop, overshoot, jitter, regulation, and repeatability
- High voltage measurement, current measurement, RF synchronized diagnostics, controls, and automated test
- Grounding, EMI and EMC, facility power interfaces, and integration with RF sources, magnets, cooling, and vacuum systems
- Component selection, supplier development, prototype fabrication, commissioning, failure analysis, and production readiness
You must have one of the following:
- A PhD in electrical engineering, power electronics, pulsed power, applied physics, or a directly relevant field, or
- A BS or MS in a relevant technical field plus at least 5 years of directly relevant professional experience
- You must have personally designed, built, tested, or commissioned meaningful high voltage power hardware. Experience that exists only at the requirements, simulation, project management, or vendor management level is not enough.
- Strong candidates may come from pulsed power, high voltage power electronics, accelerators, radar, directed energy, fusion, high power lasers, semiconductor processing, medical accelerators, RF transmitters, or other systems where voltage, power density, fault energy, switching speed, and reliability matter.
- You should have strong fundamentals in power electronics, switching, magnetics, insulation, protection, controls, parasitics, grounding, and high voltage measurement.
- You should be comfortable working around high voltage, vacuum systems, RF diagnostics, precision microwave hardware, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- This role requires access to U.S. export controlled information. Candidates must qualify as a U.S. person under applicable export control laws, including U.S. citizens, U.S.nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.
- You must be willing to work on site in New Mexico, Southern California, or Austin.
- 100% Employer-Paid Health Insurance Premiums
- Competitive PTO and paid company holidays
- Equity Package with meaningful ownership potential
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and expertise
