As a Transportation Management Specialist in National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Secure Transportation, Office of Program Integration (OPI), Aviation Operations Division (AOD), your primary responsibility will to provide technical safety and procedural guidance to federal and contract personnel in support of OST aviation missions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-02, NV-03 pay band or GS-12 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: comprehensive knowledge of the OST mission to effectively analyze and resolve critical transportation problems and provide agency and/or interagency advice through policy guidance on OST transportation activities.

  • Conducting aircraft weight and balance calculations by evaluating cargo capacity, loading restrictions, cargo configurations, restraint requirements, and aircraft structural limitations to ensure safe and compliant aircraft loading operations;
  • Managing air transportation of hazardous materials, ensuring proper compatibility, segregation, documentation, and loading in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements;
  • Developing and implementing plans for transportation of a diverse mix of hazardous materials by airplane to include reviewing and validating shippers' declaration for hazardous goods;
  • Administering safety, quality assurance, and personnel safety training programs to ensure operational compliance and workforce readiness.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
