Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space Mission Systems (SMS) is seeking a  
** Senior Engineering Manager
** to lead our Advanced Electro-Optical Systems (AEOS) Engineering Department in  
** Albuquerque, NM.*
* This high caliber engineering team supports the Boeing Laser Electro-Optical Systems business, Starfire Optical Range (SOR), and other Proprietary programs.  The AEOS Engineering Department designs, builds, and operates state-of-the-art electro-optical systems including active EO technologies for critical national security missions.

This Senior Engineering Manager will set the strategy, lead execution, and grow a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of 100+ engineers and managers.  You will define the technical vision, develop people and processes, and ensure our programs deliver mission-ready systems on-time with first time quality. You'll partner closely with customers, program leadership, senior technologists, and cross-functional Boeing teams (including Boeing Engineering & Technology Innovation, Phantom Works, and core BDS engineering capabilities).

** What you'll do*
* + Lead and develop a diverse team of engineers and first-line managers working across electro-optical systems, active EO technologies, sensors, algorithms, and integration & test.

+ Set strategy and roadmaps for AEOS capabilities; translate mission needs into executable plans, budgets, and measurable outcomes.

+ Establish and improve engineering processes, tools, and metrics that drive technical excellence, on-contract performance, and continuous improvement.

+ Provide technical oversight of architectures, designs, analyses, integration/test plans, and verification/validation activities.

+ Build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders; represent AEOS in technical and program reviews and executive briefings.

+ Acquire and allocate resources; ensure training, skills development, and readiness to execute statements of work.

+ Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe culture where employees feel empowered to raise safety, quality, and schedule concerns early.

* ** Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):*
* + This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required), or enrolled in a Continuous Vetting program within the last 5 years.

+ Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

+ 5+ years of experience leading or managing an engineering project or team.

+ Product development and systems engineering experience.
