What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking an Electronic Fabrication Trades Apprentice

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Plan, fabricate, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and provide quality assurance and testing of a wide range of electronic and electro‑mechanical components utilizing engineering principles in support of research and development for a complex production prototyping environment.
  • You will receive hands on training in soldering, cables/harnesses, printed wire assemblies, magnetic components, chassis, and rack systems all leading to a high level of proficiency in all areas.
  • As a condition of employment Metal Trades Council (MTC) represented employees must pay the monthly membership dues or agency fee.
Qualifications We Require

Requirements for Acceptance into Electronic Fabrication Apprenticeship:

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Electronics Technology or Electronics Engineering Technology as provided by a Community College or equivalent, with an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater

OR

4 years of hands‑on relevant work history.

Responsibilities include consulting requesters on design definition and performance requirements as follows:

  • Designing and developing electromechanical drawings using CAD software and other computer tools.
  • Planning, scheduling and fabrication cables/harnesses, chassis, and providing quality assurance and testing of completed units.
  • Consult and team with Management, Mentors and other trainers.
  • Collaborate with engineers as a fabrication resource on manufacturability issues.
  • Perform work to industry safety standards. Perform work using IPC fabrication standards.
  • Completion of a State approved Electronic Fabrication Trades Apprenticeship Program.
  • Obtain new and maintain required IPC fabrication standards for electronic fabrication to meet current as well as future business needs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Good understanding of mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Understanding IPC J-STD-001 Standard for Soldering Requirements.
  • Understanding IPC-A610 acceptability of Electronic Assemblies.
  • Understanding IPC-620 Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies.
  • Hands‑on electronics fabrication with 3-5 years of experience.
