Our client, Zia Trust Inc., is adding a Trust Officer or Senior Trust Officer, with a JD, to the core team in Albuquerque. With the support of an Ops team and Trust Associates, the Trust Officer provides trust account administration and management for various personal, family, and trust accounts.

As the Corporate Trustee, the objective is to free the families from the burden and conflicts that arise in managing a family estate and financial matters. Trust Services include management and administration of a variety of Trusts:
Revocable and Irrevocable, Testamentary, Charitable, Directed, Special Needs, Court Settlement, Closely Held Businesses, Cemetery, and more.
- Determine responsibilities, duties, and terms of the governing trust document and administer the trust accordingly.
- Initiate and monitor account activity ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and applicable laws, rules and regulations.
- Monitor the accuracy of account transactions and information in the trust accounting system and work closely with the Operations Department to ensure accuracy.
- Arrange for the appraisal of real property, evaluation, transfer, and protection of trust assets.
- Interact professionally and with a high degree of follow‑up with clients, beneficiaries, portfolio managers, attorneys, CPAs and other trust professionals regarding accounts.
- Actively manage account fiduciary risk by performing account reviews, operating in an unbiased manner within the trust provisions, and other fiduciary activities.
- Lead performance planning and reviews for assigned support team members.
- A Juris Doctor (JD) graduate degree.
- Successful completion of the CFTA exam, or the ability to sit for it in the first year.
- Working knowledge of fiduciary principles and trust administration practices.
- Proven experience understanding the requirements of trusts, leveraging strategic partnerships, managing family questions and dynamics as well as external vendors and partners, and industry collaborators.
- Guided by ethics, values, and a drive to do the right thing.
- Ethical with a high level of integrity, drive to fulfill fiduciary needs and requirements, and ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with internal and external partners.
