The Administrative Office of the Courts is recruiting a full‑time, term Pretrial Electronic Monitoring and Supervision Officer in Albuquerque, NM. Under the general supervision of the Electronic Monitoring Supervision (EMS) Program Supervisor and/or District Court Pretrial Program Manager, EMS Officers work from a centralized unit and respond to alerts generated by GPS software for defendants ordered to GPS Monitoring. Their work may lead to warrant issuance and alert law enforcement to assist.
EMS Officers also complete administrative tasks to support data fidelity and efficient processes within the AOC. The EMS Unit operates outside normal business hours, covering overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays. The advertised shift is Saturday and Sunday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Monday through Wednesday 3:30 pm to 12:00 am. Days off are Thursday and Friday. The schedule may change to meet judicial needs.
- Evaluate electronic monitoring alerts to determine violations and respond according to program policies, including requesting arrest warrants and notifying justice partner agencies.
- Monitor pretrial defendants ordered to electronic monitoring to ensure compliance with court‑ordered conditions of release.
- Provide written notification to local courts, assigned Pretrial Officers, and other criminal justice partners regarding violations or requests for bench warrants.
- Research and identify each defendant’s conditions of release to confirm that reported violations are direct contraventions.
- Prepare accurate written reports detailing chronological events for bench warrant requests.
- Communicate with local courts, pretrial programs, and attorneys.
- Document all interactions, notifications, and actions taken in the case management system.
- Work collaboratively with local pretrial program(s).
- Assist with initiating and closing cases in the Odyssey Supervision Module, provide audit support for data entry, and offer administrative support to local pretrial programs.
- Compile and report statistical data.
- Implement new technologies to enhance pretrial supervision.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, social sciences, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Four (4) years of directly related or relevant experience may substitute one year of education on a year‑for‑year basis.
- One (1) year of experience in criminal justice, social services, probation, corrections, or a related field.
- Must obtain and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six months of hire.
- Knowledge of legal and evidence‑based pretrial supervision using electronic monitoring technology and protocols, court processes, and state and federal statutes governing bond/bail and release.
- Understanding of New Mexico law, civil and criminal procedure, legal terminology, and investigative techniques using governmental resources.
Work is performed in an office or court setting and may require a valid driver’s license and travel. The schedule includes nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Employees regularly interact positively with co‑workers, clients, the public, judges, and justice partners.
