Court Probation Officer 2 (#)
Full-time, permanent position in Albuquerque, NM.
Business Unit: 24400. # of Positions: 1.
The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court is recruiting a Court Probation Officer 2 for the Standard Probation Division.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate defendants’ educational, family, criminal, employment and social background, and prior treatment compliance.
- Assess and determine risks and needs, develop and implement supervision plans, and recommend treatment and sentencing options.
- Review police and court reports, verify findings, and report to the court.
- Monitor defendants’ compliance with sentencing, conditions of probation, community service, and electronic monitoring.
- Schedule hearings, notify parties, present pre‑sentencing reports, inform and subpoena witnesses, and provide recommendations to attorneys.
- Maintain, manage, and update essential documents in case files; compile monthly statistical reports.
- Participate in scheduled progress meetings, unannounced site visits, and community outreach or educational programs related to court programs.
- Track and administer drug and alcohol screens, maintain protocols, equipment, and supplies.
- Other duties as assigned to meet operational needs of the court.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or related field (or four years of directly related experience substitutable on a year‑for‑year basis).
- Experience: Three years of experience in criminal justice, social services, or a related field.
- Knowledge of court‑ordered rehabilitation programs, sentencing guidelines, New Mexico law, court rules, case management, substance abuse and mental health treatment, conflict resolution, investigative techniques, drug screening methods, electronic monitoring, and court case management systems.
- Must obtain and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six months of hire.
