Field Representative – Indian Affairs

Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM) seeks a Field Representative to work on Indian Affairs. The position is based in Albuquerque and requires travel throughout New Mexico. Primary duties include identifying and accomplishing community initiatives; representing the Senator to Tribal governments; planning public meetings and events; staffing the Senator in New Mexico; proactively building relationships with stakeholders, staying up-to-date on relevant news, and frequently interacting with constituents, community leaders, and organizations;

and working with the Senator’s state, legislative and economic development staff to address Tribal government and sovereign nation challenges with a federal nexus and to bring increased federal funding to the region.

The ideal candidate has strong ties to New Mexico, a history of working with Tribal governments, is an enthusiastic team player with creative drive and overall exceptional writing and communications skills. This is not an entry level position; three to five years of applicable work experience are strongly preferred. This position is required to work in the office.
