Position Summary
The University of New Mexico's Center for Memory & Aging (CMA) is seeking a Clinical Research Supervisor to support the newly funded New Mexico Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (NM ADRC). The term end is 2026, but the grant may be funded through at least 2029, contingent on continued NIH support. The CMA conducts longitudinal studies of older adults (age 50+), collecting MRIs, cognitive, neurological, and biospecimen data.
We seek a self‑starter motivated candidate who can coordinate day‑to‑day activities for research studies, with experience in clinical trials or participant‑based research, and knowledge of Human Research and Good Clinical Practice.
- Recruit patients and schedule appointments for ongoing research studies.
- Ensure protocol adherence and maintain accurate records.
- Collect, compile, and manage study data.
- Work with confidential patient and physician information to coordinate research appointments and examinations.
- Assist with coordination of add‑on studies (EEG, EKG, PET, MRI, etc.) and other medical procedures when needed.
- Annual TB and rubella screening may be required.
- UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination; candidates may decline or provide prior vaccination records.
- Specialty licensure or certification may be required as specified by the department.
- Successful candidates must submit to a post‑offer, pre‑employment physical examination and medical history check.
- Must maintain certification status.
- High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Current ACRP certification as Clinical Research Coordinator or eligibility for certification.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Experience recruiting, scheduling, and maintaining rapport with patients and families.
- Experience working with older patients and diverse populations with cognitive decline.
- Coordinating large patient‑centered research studies, such as industry‑sponsored clinical trials or large NIH studies.
- Proficiency with phlebotomy, especially drawing blood from older adults.
- Experience handling confidential patient medical information.
- Experience administering research assessments, specifically cognitive tests or structured interviews.
- Experience with IRB and maintaining regulatory documentation.
- Experience explaining or assisting with medical procedures such as EEG, EKG, MRI, CT, PET, or lumbar puncture.
- Bilingual Spanish/English.
